Quotes of the day from Men's C1 and Women's K1 competition

From the Semi-Finals (Men's C1 and Women's K1):

Pierre Labarelle (FRA)
"It was really good, I really enjoyed it. There is lots of water, big, big waves and lots of things to do."

Stuart McIntosh (GBR)
"I'm feeling absolutely guttered. [Disappointment] is probably an understatement actually. This is probably the worst run I've done in months. In months. I'm just a bit shocked right now to be honest."

Laura Blakeman (GBR)
"I'm actually really pleased. I had a good run I thought. Got a good start which left some room for me for the rest of the course. I'm in the finals. It's definitely the best run I've done so far. It's actually the best I've done ever. This time I came in 5th. Usually I'd go in about 9th and then I'd have to crawl my way up. But this is great."

Violetta Oblinger Peters (AUT)
"I didn't touch the gate. I was never close to the pole. I was paddling there and the water just came strong and pushed the gates up. The water moved it. I didn't even know until the results came down at the end. I'm putting in the protest. It'll take 10 minutes to process so we'll see. But yeah, I'm feeling absolutely horrible at the moment."

Gabriela Zamiskova Broskova (SVK)
"I feel good, my goal was to reach the final." (She did make the final, but then failed to show up.)

From the Finals (Men's C1 and Women's K1):

Robin Bell (AUS) - Men's C1 Champion
"All my friends started jumping in the river and that's when I realised I'd won."

Kynan Maley (AUS) - Men's C1 - 7th Place
"I'm just stoked to be here. I was convinced I would be on the couch watching the tournament!"

Tony Estanguet (FRA) - Men's C1 - 2nd Place
"It's true that it's a bit hard to win when you are not racing at home with the supporters behind you, but Robin did a fantastic job. He has not had a lot of luck lately so it's great for him to win today."

Stepanka Hilgertova (CZE) - Women's K1 - 4th Place
"It's sport. I was not as strong as the other run, with all the touches I made and it depends on the judges also."

Mandy Planert (GER) - Women's K1 - 2nd Place
"Now, you see me smiling!"

Ronnie Duerrenmatt (SUI) - Men's C1 - 9th Place
"It's one of the nicest courses and I liked the feeling of paddling; to slide, fly over the waves. I always believe in having to give my best so overall, I think I feel okay."
